Can we be friends?

Enough. Enough.

Chickens, calves and pigs can wiggle their asses freely in California (although, gays and lesbians cannot form a legal commitment to a life partner.) But at least Michigan is allowing medical marijuana and stem-cell research (no connection, I believe. ) And thank the Lord, Missouri has made English their official language because hoo boy, I don't speak a lick of Missourian. And although, Arizona also banned gay marriage, they also banned hiring illegal immigrants - equal opportunity, no? And hey, your doctor can now go all Kevorkian on your terminally ill ass if you happen to live in Washington state. And well, hell's bells - if worse does indeed come to worse, you can now play video lottery in Maryland. That is something, no?

And Obama is President-Elect. I sincerely hope he remembers to leave his pitchfork and horns back in Chicago because methinks the DC elite would frown on such attire.

End of story. Can we move on, now??

I agree it's time to move on but can I bring up one other weird state? Arkansas. They passed the lottery but banned gay adoption. Which is weird b/c the lottery didn't pass in AL several years ago b/c the Christian Conservatives won their fight. So, in Arkansas it's like two totally different groups showed up to vote.

Zoot - that IS interesting! Apparently, "unmarried sex" is far worse than gambling. Which leads me to point out that the measure was not really specifically about gay couples, but rather "unmarried sexual partners" - regardless of sexual orientation.

Per CNN: This measure would prohibit unmarried "sexual partner[s]" from adopting children or from serving as foster parents. The measure specifies that the prohibition applies to both opposite-sex as well as same-sex couples.

Amen! I was bummed about Prop 8 in Cali but thrilled about Prop 2, which for some reason makes me an evil gayhater, even though I WANTED Prop 8 to be voted down. I don't live there and had no control over any of that. I'm just psyched that animals will be treated more humanely and yet, people accuse ME, on my own blog, of caring more about animals than people. Arrggghhh!

So, if my friend and I who were NOT sexual partners, but just buddies, wanted to adopt, that'd be cool? Huh?! I mean, do they make you PROVE you are having sex?

Okay so my moral views tend toward the religious right. However, I do not understand how it is government's responsibility to regulate that stuff. Just because I may disagree with someone's lifestyle does not give me the authority to outlaw it. The way I see it if your actions aren't hurting me or my family then you should be allowed to follow whatever path you want in life. I have no problem really with the church (or other religious body) choosing to condemn people for their actions but government has no place in determining or enforcing that type of morality. I know it's a much over-simplified view but all the arguing has just got me tired.

Sucks about the gay stuff but I'll admit I AM pretty excited for the chickens but pretty sad to think about how they lived before if they couldn't even stand up or turn around.

stephanie, there is probably videotaping involved to prove you are having sex but then you get busted in a porno ring that sells your video tape....to children.

And really it is all downhill from there.

unless your a farm animal, in cali. then things are looking up.
