Another Brick in the Wall

Pink Floyd, The Wall 1979

I have SO many things I want to write about. About BlogHer .... about some fun gear I was given while there ..... about hanging out with my Imaginary Friends for an ENTIRE weekend ..... about the reason why I liked The Help the Book, but have no plans whatsoever to see the movie ..... about how some folks over-reacted to innocuous commentary about an effing CAKE ..... about how some other folks denigrated the entire population of Alabama in reaction to said innocuous commentary about said effing CAKE ..... about how much I LOVE the people from Alabama .......

But right now is really crazy. And I am quickly losing the patience and courage to get myself involved in sticky, thorny, emotion-laden topics.  Also, while I was in San Diego playing with my Imaginary Friends, my very Real Family from San Diego was out of town themselves. In a fun twist, my Real Family is HERE in Kansas visiting and I am trying to spend as much time with them as possible. Many roadtrips to Leavenworth are involved in this goal.

Drinking Coors creekside, catching frogs and trying not to get ran over cows? Now THAT is a Kansas Family Reunion, folks.

Also, Arun started Kindergarten today.

He dutifully posed for pictures.

And of course, Anjali had to get in on the act.

OF COURSE.

He took off to school without a backward glance.

However, tears were still shed. Trust me.

I saw on Twitter something about cake and I assumed it was Blogher related but now I'm thinking it must be related to The Help book/movie...which might be ridiculous either way!

Happy First day of Kindergarten! I will shed many, many tears on that day, I know!

So cute! Our first day is tomorrow. We have 100 degree temps in Houston, so no long sleeves yet. And uniforms. Hope it went well. Do you have a special first day of school tradition? We eat icecream for dessert on the first day.

My 6yr old starts 1st grade a week from Wed and my 3 yr old starts two morning a week preschool after labor day and I am already all verklempt abut the whole thing. One would think after getting through kindergarten (which is also all day in my district).... I would be over it, but it seems like EVERY YEAR I am struck by how fast they are growing up.

congrats! I registered Alex for his kindergarten which starts on 08/22 (Monday) and the lady in the office said, "You can drop your son off in his room at 740am, then we will have a room down the hall with coffee, donuts and tissue, we call it the cry room."
